Question:

Fire Alarm is getting on my nerves?

It wont stop beeping, periodically. How do I make it stop?

Answer:

Clean the weatherstrip, and apply silicone emulsion to it. It starts to dry out and causes quite a ruckus.when the body flexes. You can buy it from your GM parts store. It comes with it's own cotton ball applicator attached to the inside of the cap. It is like hand lotion for your truck's rubber parts.
I can't quite picture what type of door lock it is. But I'll try to help. Sometimes after many years of use, The backset (thing that goes in and out on the side) gets worn down around the space that slides onto the shaft of the knob. Then when turned by the knob, the space no longer catches and turns along with it. It will just slip. Another reason could be it needs cleaned. There is grease in the moving knob shaft when new and with age it collects so much dust and dirt it can become sticky or freezes. Another thing could be one of the springs inside the handel has broke. Sounds to me you just might have to get a new knob but they can make your old key fit the new one if you like. Hope that makes it feel a little better.
