Holes can be patched with aluminium sheet cut an inch or so wider than the hole and pop riveted into place with plenty of rivetsThe joint can be sealed with a silicon sealer or engine gasket compound, applied to both surfaces before the patch is fixedAluminium can also be soldered, but this needs a lot of skill and a special solderSorry I don't have any links, written from personal experience
Several methods availablePatch with aluminum using bolts and caulk, or patch by welding aluminum.
I should have thought that using self-tapping screws on an inner and outer plate with a silicon-mastic sealer would be the go-to methodTracing-paper templates are your friend.
putting a patch on with self tappers is only a temporary solution as the different metals will set u pgalvanic corrosion the screws will fall out of enlarged holes!! For a temporary repair multiple layers of duct tape or gaffer tape applied carefully to the outside of a drie hull will get you homeAn aluminium patch can be pop rivetted (with Al or monel rivets), sealed either with neutral cure silicone (read the data on the cartridge - you're looking for adhesive sealantNot all silicones are equalNeutral cure is needed as the acetic acid released by the others attacks the Al.) on the outside of the holeIf the boat is going to be left in the water for weeks at a time, use either marine grade or one of the Sikaflex ureathane products that is designed for continuous immersionSpending an extra $10 is better than having the patch leak a few weeks laterIf there is a rib or other shape at the hole a little careful panel beating will be needed to make the patch fit neatly Good as they are silicone or ureathane wont fill huge gaps.
If it doesn't make it into your blood stream, noIn the future, I'd suggest you avoid swallowing aluminum, that's not such a good thing to do.
