I want to forge a cheap, easy swordits m y first time, i don't have access to a full blown forge, and have a budget of roughly $100I looked around and learned aluminum is cheap, and melts easily (i don't need it to be strong)I also heard about some sort of tube that hinges open, has a hole in the top, and can be filled with some sorta casting sand for the moldAny tips, tricks, or advice?
All this damn foil!.What a bunch of flatlanders !!!!! aluminum is bad for youmake bread on a stick, just roll it small and twist on the stick and cook over the firecook fish on a stick over the firecook beef on a stick over the fire or ribs by driving a stake in between every other bone and then stick the stick in the ground by the fire, like the mountain men used to doNo ,baking powder.no problem .use pot ash or the white powdered ash from your fire teaspoon for teaspoon s great !.tons a things you can cook.just dope it out !
Aluminum is terrible to forge (hammer) and does not respond nicely to heatingThe tube thing you describe is foundry casting not forgingSteel is going to be the cheapest and since a roman lookin shortsword is basically straight, you are mostly going to be grinding it to shape.
You can make fish kebabs on foil. For making fish kebabs you can use any fish fillet of your choice. My choices are Tilapia and Salmon fillets.Add some butter to the foil as well as the fish before placing the fillets on the foil.Place the fish in the foil.Add lemon juice, salt and pepper,Tandoori fish masala (you can get this at any Indian grocery store,if you don't get Tandoori fish masala you could even use Tandoori chicken masala, they come in small packets) and wrap the fish in the foil.Cook for about 20 mins.If you do not want the Tandoori masala or if you think that it would be too spicy for you then just stick to the other ingredients and it will still work out fineInstead of cooking the fish in the foil you can also cook it in skewers. You can cut the fillet into chunks and roast it over the fire along with some green and red peppersYou can use the same recipe with chicken as wellHave fun camping!
We make hobo dinners: take a hamburger patty, a slice of onion, some mushrooms, some sliced potatoes, sliced carrots, salt PepperWrap in foil, folded side up, and cook in the hot coals around the firethey are really good, also we do fish the same way (halibut, salmon, lemon and butter) they cook pretty fast.
The foil dinners are greatTake the grill off your charcoal and support it over the wood fireMake a pot stewOn your last night out use everything leftover to make a stewExample: fried chicken, hamburger, hot dogs, pork chop, bacon, breakfast sausageCut into small pieces and put in potPotatoes, corn peas, mushrooms Use it all Put it all in a pot that you don't really care about (the outside will be black from the fire) add some water, tomato paste, canned vegiesSimmer all togetherAdd a can of spinichWhen everything has cooked down add (Bisquick)dumplingsFollow recipie on boxGreatest stew in the worldYou can only make it once cause the next time you are out you will not have thev same ingredients as the first timeEvery time is great but different.
