Question:

Gas boiler not pumping water properly?

My boiler in the basement will not distribute or pump the water upstairs properly. The pump is working fine, as far as I can tell. I am getting some heat upstairs in a couple of rooms but not a lot. There is no valve anywhere upstairs or downstairs to bleed air out of the system. This is baseboard heat. The basement is heating up very well. It simply won't fully flow through the upstairs as it should. ANY help would be appreciated.

Answer:

Your system is probably low on water and has lost it's prime to the pump. The system is self bleeding of air,but you have to put enough water in it in order for it to push the air out.
How can you tell the pump is working properly? If the impeller is broken, the motor will run, but it won't pump any water. You cannot tell just by looking at it. You should call a heating contractor that works on boilers to look at it.
