Gas Dryer Installation Question-?

Hi there, I've installed my gas dryerI have a two part question:1.) I've installed the flexible metal duct from the wall, via a metal ring (with the screw bolt on top) but when attaching to the actual gas dryer, there is not a thick enough lip to attach the metal ring toAm I missing something? I see from the dryer a piece that looks like it holds the metal ring to the unit but when the metal ring is on it there is not enough clearance to attach the metal tubeDo I need to get a metal extension of some sort?2.) Once everything is attached do I turn the gas all the WAY on? or just a quarter inch, etc? Thanks so much!

Answer:

40 grit on a grinder or orbital sander, dont worry about the deep scratches the liner will fill them.
Unlike paint that is merely cosmetic, chrome is a layers of metal electrochemically bonded to the frameThis layer of metal, even thin as it may be, acts as reinforcement, like plywood, with thin layers reinforcing each otherOften chromed bikes cover a weak/poorly made frameIf you sand it there is no way to know how strong the frame will remainIt will be better to re-chrome that frameThe seat and the grips would be very deteriorated from being outside so don't count on saving those.
wet sand paper will e what you want to use as a final producti would suggest that 200 grit to start and then like 600 700You can use a more coarse sand paper if you want but it will require more sand to get it smooththe lower the number the more coarse the paperthis herculiner you speak of sounds like a coarse spray on bedlinerIf this is the case then the bumber doesnt have to be perfectly smooth but should not feel roughthe more time spent on sanding the better it will turn outyou could probly get away with a power sander or a portable sandblaster (hopper blaster) just make sure if u sand blast i you cover anything you dont want to get sanded with a thick material like cardboardhope this helps and good luck!
With dryers, especially gas, it is not recommended that you use a collapsing vinyl or aluminum vent tubeYour dryer needs the 4 inches to perform properlyAlso with gas and working with an open flame, a lint buildup creates more of a fire hazardDo suggest the non flexible aluminum vent tubeIf you opt to use the flexible tube, you can purchase an elbow to make the connection easier and tighterAs for the gas, turn the shut off completely onAs suggested in another answer, use a soap solution around the connections to detect any leaks.
