The Katipunan flags were hoisted at different events, mostly after the so-called Cry of Balintawak or Cry of Pugadlawin The Katipunan flag with three upright white Ks in a straight line on a red background was raised during some of the battles led by the Bonifacio brothers. The Katipunan flag with three slanted white Ks (going to the right) in a straight line on a red background was hoisted when the KKK was around the area known now as Montalban, meeting up with the Katipuneros in the Rizal provincial area. The Katipunan flag with a humanoid sun face - and three white upright Ks in a straight line on a red background - was raised probably two to three weeks before the Biak Na Bato republic. Andres Bonifacio had a personal Katipunan flag with the three white upright Ks in a triangle formation on a red background. Mariano Llanera (one of Emilio Aguinaldo's generals) had a skull-and-crossbones motif (the skull and crossbones in white, on a background and the three white upright Ks in a triangle formation surrounding the skull and crossbones) during a battle/raid on the Spanish maestranza a week or two after the discovery of the Katipunan.
