Question:

Glueing vinyl tiles to hardwod floor?

We have a hardwood floor in our bathroom, and because it gets too damp, we want to install vinyl tiles on top of the hardwood floor. But I cannot imagine vinyl sticking to wood - can it be done successfully? Any glue tips??

Answer:

yes there is a glue that you can use for that go to home depot and ask someone there they can help.
Vinyl tiles may not stick that well to the hardwood. They may also ruin the hardwood. If you aren't concerned with ruining the hardwood, then you should use some sand paper to rough up the surface to help the tiles stick better. I hope this helps!!
If you do that you will STILL have a hardwood floor that will get damp, only it will be underneath vinyl tiles, and you might find problems in the future with buckling, swelling etc because the vinyl and wood will not shrink or expand at the same rate. Best just to take an extra day, remove the hardwood and start fresh
If you put a vinyl tile on a hard wood weather you varnish it or seal it or any thing, The lines in the hardwood will telescope through and show right through the vinyl in no time.. Plus the natural expansion and contraction of wood will break the glue bond of the vinyl Any flooring questions you can e mail me through my avatar GL
instead of putting vinyl stick on tiles over your hardwood why not try putting a coat or 2 of marine varnish.it will protect it through anything .because stick on tiles are placed side by side there's always a slight gap that water can penetrate causing the wood below to mildew, mold and eventually rot below as well as the vinyl tiles to lift then you'll have a much larger problem .
