Question:

Going campingwhat is needed?

Alright, so I'm going camping by myself what equipment should I bring with me (like backpack, sleeping bag, etc.)? Also what clothing should I wear?

Answer:

Sleeping bag Tent - up to you, if there is a chance of rain I would take one Backpack is only needed if you are packing in to the camp site some sort of camp stove especially if there are fire restrictions Three complete changes of clothingIn summer heat, I suggest jeans and tee shirtsDon't forget SOCKS!!! A digging tool such as a folding shovel or even a good garden trowelA good knife such as a 7 buck knife with a belt sheathA folding pocket knife will be better than nothingA COMPASS and TOPO maps of the area! If you plan to hike this could be the difference in eventually finding your way back to camp and getting there when you want toButane lighters or waterproof matches for starting a fire IF NEEDEDA cell phone just in caseBasic first aid kit spool of nylon twine (comes in handy) Water containers that are easy to carrySome fanny packs have water bottle holders attachedI got mine at walmart Camp cook wareEven the cheap mess kits are OK as long as you get the stainless steel versionFOOD! I use a lot of canned food because it is ready made, easy to use, requires no refrigerationBring a water supply with you in case there isn't a ready water supply in the areaJust some of the basics!
SimpleFoil lined box with open side topCover openings with clear plastic wrapSuspend black container of water in boxTurn opening to the sunYou can maximize efficiency by arranging the inside of the box as a concentrating mirror with the container at the focus(Don't fill the container too full or seal too tightly.)
you may be able to use mirrors and magnifing glasses to heat up the water, never tried it but it may work.
