Question:

GRADE 9 CHEMISTRY HELP?

Copper is also used for pipes, but in the Roman times lead was used for plumbing. What makes both these materials suitable for this use? What makes lead unsuitable?

Answer:

I think it has to do with the plastic seals. California has been going after some plastics the rest of the world does not think there is any science proving they are a problem.
lead is poisonous substance where copper is not, both of them could be moulded or hammered in any shape which makes them suitable for making anything.
both lead and copper are very malleable metals. this allows for them to be easily formed into conduits for fluids. lead has the down side of chemically combining into compounds that can be ingested and cause a number of health problems.
Copper pipes and lead are easy to use and fast installation because its mallable it can easily be crafted. Problems about lead is that it is poisonous and should not be used for plumbing
I don't know, never heard of anything like that. I do have a kitchen appliance with a tag on the power cord. It says, the cord contains lead that is harmful to your health. Please wash hands after use. Unbelievable.
