Question:

grout haze on glass tile?

i put up glass tile on my kitchen backsplash. i grouted today. i am unable to remove the grout haze this evening however. it is causing the tile to look terrible. any tips? i don‘t want to scratch it.

Answer:

I have had the same issue. Unfortunately, you will have to continue to wash the tile with a clean sponge. When the haze goes away, it will come back. The next time it will not be as much. You will need to wash and wash unitl it is gone. It will go away. This is very typical for tile and grouting. Good luck!
When grouting glass tile, you should only use non-sanded grout, which is far less abrasive. then its wipe down multiple times. A tile store can possibly recommend a cleaner (used to remove grout) as well.
I swear by a product reported as Goo long gone. It has a tendency to do away with even the main sticky messes. i might think of the haze is a skinny layer of dried glue. you additionally can try organic vinegar and newspaper. That works properly on glass to scrub it.
test a spot with something like limeaway, but dont get it alll over the grout.
Re washing grout haze will only keep bringing it back. Try 1 st buffing with a clean , dry terri cloth towel .. If this doesn t do it,step 2 is to get a white nylon doodle bug pad. Buff these dry w/o water.. We also call then scratch pads ( they won t scratch tile).. Step 3 if this doesn t work is to get a grout haze and efforvesant remover. About $5 an 8 oz bottle, sold almost any place tile is sold. This you can do according to directions, that is mix w/ water this time..Don t use any lime away or any thing caustic...Any other questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there GL
