Question:

guitar amp speaker question?

i have a line 6 spider3 15 watt amp and the speaker messed up. Will replacing the speaker with a different brand of speaker mess it up if i get the same watt and ohm?

Answer:

it shouldn't mess it up but if it does then youre screwed!
As long as you install the replacement speaker, correctly, you should be fine, with the same watt and ohms. I would also recommend that you not use the amp until you replace the speaker. When a guitar amp speaker blows, it can also damage the guitar amp itself by changing the impedance, or rather the amount of electricity that runs through the amp. I've included a link for you below. it's from the August 06 issue of Guitar Player magazine. I think you'll find it very helpful.
no it wont if ohms and watts are the same, depending on the speaker you might get a better tone.
