Question:

H.i.d lights and fog lights.?

If I get hid lights and install fog lights that are not hid, will the fog lights still be helpful or should I just get everything hid? Thanks in advance to all those who answered...

Answer:

howard l, do you know what fog lights even are? i used to have a retrofit HID projectors with OEM honda fogs and the HID overpowered the fogs. but when i removed the projectors, the fog lamps were more useful because the halogen headlight is very weak.
you dont need hid on fog lights
Crysis565 do you know anything about the law? or how blinding HIDs are in any non factory HID equipped vehicle especially hid fogs? or how non factory HIDs are illegal in any car because they arent DOT approved? pick up a state inspection handbook and learn something
No, the fog light is a different type of bulb entirely, honestly, HID fog lights are generally just for show and don't function correctly after using HID's. That being said, if you love the look and don't have many foggy days, f*ck it, put em in lol
Fog lights are almost never useful since most people don't know how or when to use them. They turn them on in bad visibility and think it's OK to do the speed limit. Fog lights should be turned on when visibility less than 100 feet and traveling no more than about 20 mph. Headlights should be turned off when fog lights are being used and on newer cars factory equipped with foglights the headlights are automatically turned off. HID headlights are illegal on cars that weren't factory equipped with them and frequently don't improve visibility. Your choice if you want to risk a fix it ticket or a failed safety inspection and then being forced to remove them.
