Question:

H2o pump?? how u know when its not working?

how do u know when u need to replace ur water pump or how do u know when its not working??? thanks

Answer:

The engine will overheat if it's not working at all.
You'll know when your engine overheats especially when the temp gauge hits H. If you suspect it isn't working just get it replaced and save your engine damaging itself due to overheating.
i like the way you said that.h2o pump.well if the water pump isnt working like it should, then it will overheat and the temp.light will come on and also if its leaking anti-freexe,its time to change it.also if the bearing is making a racket,it is time for a new 1.
I have seen them just let go and start leaking water usually from a weep hole located just under the shaft. I have also seen the pulley get wobbly and start throwing belts. if it is not leaking but you are not circulating water through your system then you probably have a clog ( did someone add stop leak?) or the thermostat is not opening. If you are suspecting the water pump because of overheating it probably is something else. Start with coolant and thermostat.
Water pump may have three types of failure: 1. Leaking shaft seal You know by a. puddle under the car, b. low coolant level, c. ultimately - overheat 2. Shaft bearing failure You know by excessive noise, play in the shaft, ultimately - leak from the seal (see 1) 3. Turbine itself breaks. This is a rare case, and the only one that represents no working condition. The engine immediately - withing a few minutes - overheats.
