Question:

Hard Wiring Motorcycle Speakers?

I bought some motorcycle speakers and im trying to figure out what to wire them into and how. I need to make sure the circuit im wiring into can handle the 100w speakers. Any ideas?

Answer:

Do you have an amplifier? Your speakers should be hooked to an amp and the amp should wire into your electrical system for power (either directly to the battery or fuse assembly depending on requirements. Your audio source (radio, mp3 player, etc) will plug into the amp.
you will need to look up your bikes wiring diagram. There will be a fused circut (Not lites) that comes on with the motorcycle switch on. Thats what you want to tap into. If you have a bike without highway lites but is made to have them added, that wire will do as it can provide power and shuts off with key switch.
do these have an internal amplifier? if so, just run a fused cable directly to the battery, and then a relay to the ignition wire if not, get a small amplifier and wire it that way, then wire the speakers to the amp then use whatever device you want to send the speakers their audio signal (i have an iPod hooked to mine)
