Question:

Harmful effects of Hand towels?

Can anyone help me by giving me any possible harmful effects of Hand towels? / Cleaning Cloths ( example would be Scotch Brite ) Or negative effects caused by nylon or polyester? Any help would be appreciated :)Thanks.

Answer:

The obvious one is germ breeding grounds. If you want swine flu a cloth that has been handled by many people is a good place to find it. Nylon and polyester cleaning material isn't made to biodegrade. It wouldn't be much use if it did. What's left when you bin it, won't be leaving landfill in your life time. Hand towels in general are a waste of energy. Paper towels require trees and they aren't easily recyclable because they are a bio hazard. You don't know who has handled them or what is on them. Cotton has to be washed and that requires a high temperature and biological washing powder. Hot air hand dryers are much less energy consuming, but they circulate airborne germs.
Nylon and polyester can chafe your thighs.
