Question:

Has anyone used one of those robotic vacuum cleaners (they vacuum floor by themselves). How effective was it?

Hi I'm considering buying one as I have back problems and vacuuming is tough for me, but I'm not sure how effective they would be. If anyone has used one, please let me know, Thank you!

Answer:

The Roomba floor vac is basically a sweeper. It will not replace vacuuming, and it misses quite a bit of things on carpet (i.e. dog hair), it seemed to work better on the hard wood floors. We had one for a short time until our dog attacked and killed it. I honestly did not think it was worth the price, but it does help a little when you have a lot of floor space to cover.
No, but I really want one!
~~My mom has one and raves about it. My step dad even named it Suzette! My mom, who is anal about a clean house says it does better than she can as it goes under furniture, etc. She's made me want one now. Just not sure what my dogs would do to it??~~
They work great just as long as you dont have rugs that might get stuck in it. Tile floors with quite a bit of open room is perfect. They also sell little sensors that dter the vac from certain areas that you might consider. The scheduler can be programmed to venture out at a certain time then return for charging after completion of its rounds. Great product!
A family member of mine has one. They have a few dogs, so the small container on the vacuum can hold only one day's cleaning. It does a great job of cleaning, but it has to be cleaned out daily and that process seems to take 20 minutes or so because of the dog hair twisted around all of the parts. Cleaning the machine requires taking it apart and washing or picking out the dirt.
