I have a Dell Optiplex 790 SFF, I need a replacement power cable, on the manual it says for power: 240W, 1259 Btu/hr, 100 Vac to 240 vac, 50hz to 60 hz 3.6A. I contacted Dell and they said they have a power cable for it, the Dell 5120P cable which is 125 V 10A. Now my concern is with the 10A vs the 3.6A listed on the manual, should I be concerned?
Thanks David for your expertise!
If the 3.6A cord has the power supply built into the cord, (brick) then a standard power cord without a brick will not work. Unplug your cord from the case and look at the end of it. If it has three connections, a standard cord will work. If it has 8 contacts, you need a brick type cord.
no it will be fine, the maximum power needed as you state is 240W the replacement power cable is 125V 10A=1.25Kw so the power cable is grossly overated HTH David
