Factory alarm is based on the door and trunk switches (light switches) so opening the door, trying to jack the ignition, forcing the trunk, etc. will probably set it off. You can get aftermarket proximity alarms that detect movement within the perimeter of the car, but they are very hard to fine tune so you aren't always getting false alarms.
