Question:

Have you ever tried to level with someone?

with a bulldozer? Does the brutally honest approach really work, or does it just result in lost friends and bruised egos?

Answer:

I don't use a bulldozer. I believe in tact - but I am told I am usually as subtle as a sledgehammer. But hey! I think hammering the points in make sure what I want to say is smashingly clear and leave no stone unturned is better than beating around the bush with a stick.
I wont lower myself down enough to do that. I was braught up to be the bigger person. Brutally honest dosent work at all unless you want life with that person a living hell, and it does result in lost friends.
To me it depends on the type of person/persons you're dealing with. It's best to be honest and true to your friends and let them know that it's in their best interest. Sometimes you'll loose friends because of it, but if so....were they REALLY your friends anyway? Sometimes being brutally honest does hurt. So...if you can use a little tact and diplomacy while being honest, it may be best for you and your friends.
Lost friends and bruised egos, but its usually worth it in the end.
oh i could use that bulldozer today for some lawyers i had to have a conference with. i only wish i could bruise their egos
