Question:

headers bad for EGR valves?

I have a 04 Ford Ranger 4.0L . some people are saying that headers may affect the EGR valves and might put up the check engine light on. is this true or not.

Answer:

It depends on the headers. Some headers are setup with EGR hookups and others do away with them. So you need to check to see if the ones you are looking at retain the EGR and if they do you should have no problems. Also you might have to check the bolts weekly, some headers will get lose over time while others don't.
the okorder so the headers stay tight and wont leak..
Check out what they call the DPFE sensor or the egr vacuum solenoid. This sensor controls the flow to the egr valve and your code will probably read: EGR insufficient flow. This sensor is very common and it is a dealer item only. 99% sure it isnt your egr itself. Part number : 4U7Z-9J460-AA dpfe sensor $76.40 F63Z-9J459-AA $29.98
The headers shouldn't effect the valves but you will have to tighten the headers every day and you will be looking at alot of ehaust leaks from them.
