Question:

Help?! Does my radio come with a wiring harness?

i wanna get a Jensen VM9214 Single DIN MultiMedia Receiver with 7-Inch Flip out Touch Screen but idk whether to get a wiring harness for it cause idk if it has one or not???

Answer:

Each car has its own wire harness created for it on a custom-made basis. The harness essentially connects two types of essential things between electronics and the car itself. If you can not find the correct replacement part and you are technically knowledgeable, you may be able to recreate one yourself or purchase one that can me made to fit your specific year and model of car. If not, a trusted mechanic can handle it plus you will be confident that the wiring portion of your vehicle is correct. If your engine is not wired correctly you may have continual problems that will drive up the costs of car ownership quickly.
It will come with a harness to fit the radio, which can either be spliced into an existing harness or be used with an adaptor harness that can be used to plug into the factory harness. I prefer to purchase an installation kit, or at least the adaptor harness as this allows re-installation of the factory unit and for the wiring to be done on the bench instead of in the vehicle.
what Dirt wrote is correct except. NEVER cut the factory wiring if anyone makes an adapter. spend the few bucks to get the harness to match your car.
