So i live in a 4 bedroom, 3 reception rooms, semi-detached, high ceilings, Victorian house. And my boiler just died. Previous boiler was a Halstead Best 80. I'm looking to buy a Vaillant ecotec plus. Not sure whch one as they are all kilowatts as opposed to BTU's.Does anyone know which model i need as the previous boiler was an 80,000 BTU.Thanks
If its burning gas it has to have a btu rating. Anyway, Burnham, Weil-McClain are the boilers that I install. They are both well-made, reliable boilers. If you want to get a great system look into condensing high efficiency boilers. Quite a bit more money but way more efficient. Weil-McClain and Burnham offer some great boilers. If your just looking to get the system replaced for less cost as possible than Valliant would be a good boiler. Also, Dunkirk and Buderas also make good boilers.
If it says Kw that means it's electric power. Is that what you need? Most boilers are oil or gas... You can convert Kw into amps or BTU's directly. Kw x 1000 = Watts. Divide watts by voltage (don't know where you are, but it's probably 220 or 240 volt) This gives you amps. If you have an electric unit currently, you can look in your electrical panel at the breaker or fuse that protects it and see how many amps it is. You can also look on the name-plate of the unit itself and see how many KW or Amps it uses. Then you'll be able to know what to buy. 80000 BTU per hour is equal to 23.43 Kw per hour.
depends on what you want!!!! 80000 btu's equates to 28 kw heat power. if this is heating your house no problem then a 28kw output is suffice. Do you have a hot water cylinder or do you have a combi (hot water on demand)? various models are as follows ( most suited to you) ecotec plus 630 ( system boiler for heat and hot water cylnder) ecotec plus 637 ( system boiler for heat and hot water cylnder) for traditional radiator and cylinder instalations. ecotec plus 837 (combi with 37 kw to water and 28 kw to heat) Combi version! and lastly the 400 series ecotec plus 431 or 437 traditional open vented systems (radiators and hot water cylinder with a tank fed radiator systm from the loft space) Going by the question i would recomend minumum the ecotec 630 possibly the ecotec 637 (radiator and cylinder syetem) due to the large size of your property a combi is'nt advisable. ( the possible 637 allowing for extensions to your property as a good boiler will last a minmum of 15-20 years)
Which Boiler Should I Buy
In my opinion all boilers are junk, there a total pain in the rear, ever one i have worked with is , crap always breaking down, go with a hot air [forced air ] furnace, less problems, less maint, cheaper to operate,
