Question:

Help with baking a cake!?

So I'm going to bake a cake but I realize my cake pan has disappeared but I do have two aluminum pie pan thingiesCan I bake the batter in the pie tins and just put them together to make a cake?

Answer:

the aluminum foil is highly reflective and will reflect a significant fraction of the sunlight; the black cloth will absorb the light and transfer that energy to the ice cube the ice cube will melt more rapidly when wrapped in black cloth
im not a pro at this so sorry if you don't like this but things that are black, the sun is attracted to italuminum doesn't really absorb heat because if u keep a water bottle wrapped around aluminum foil, it stays cold for a long time so probably the black cloth
aluminum is going to insulate the dry iceIt will be like putting the ice inside a small fridge if wrapped goodThe inside temperature will stay cold much longer then any cloth, no matter what color The difference of the 2 materials you are comparing aren't even close to comparison if you were to do a test on thisEdit LOL, the guy above me is wrapping bottles around the aluminum foil, and contradicts his own statementsSorry, that is pretty funny.
Indeed aluminum is a very good heat conductor, but the thing here is that the heat first has to get into the aluminumBecause of the high reflectivity of aluminum, the absorptivity is lowSo the aluminum absorbs less heat per unit time to conduct wellThe black cloth absorbs almost all the heat from the radiation, so although its conductance of heat is less than aluminum, it has more heat to conduct to the ice to begin with.
you can bake them in an aluminum pie pan, but keep in mind these pans are usually shallow, and will overflow if your not carefulI wouldnt fill the pan more than 2/3 full just to be safeAlso if you are planning on stacking the cakes, the pie tins are smaller on the bottoms than on top, so it will look odd, not to mention some pie pans have those crimped edgesIf you do use a flimsy pan, place them on a cookie sheetDo you have muffin tins? you could make cupcakes insteadOr even a corning ware (pyrex) bowl or serve pan would workI have seen people bake in the bowls and they have a fun rounded shape to the cake where you can have fun decorating it.
