My room is tiny. ANd I need a double bed. So I got one about 2 years ago and there is no space what so Im looking to buy a sofa bed (which i will be using as an actual bed rather than a guest bed) to replace my double bed. So I can have my mates over ect and were not all squashed in a tiny corner. I already have a memory foam mattress on my bed but its quite think so should be able to fold up with a sofa bed. Any suggestions on a comfy sofa bed or futon?? Preferable one that would be the size of a double when pulled out. Thanks :)
Sofa beds are not all that comfortable for daily use and you will not be able to add or squish a memory foam topper mattress into the sofa bed folding mechanism. Consider this. A trundle bed. This is a bed that appears to be a single mattress (39 wide by 76 long) by day. You can have it pushed up against the wall and use wedge bolsters so it can be used as a seating area while company is over. Under the bed is a pull out mechanism that allows the bed to double in size or just use the bed as it and sleep on a single mattress. You will never be happy with a sofa bed over the course of time as they are not built for daily use. Think about it, any mattress that folds in thirds without a box spring cannot be very good for constant nightly use.
Sofa beds, unless you get the super good mattress are uncomfortable and require pulling pillows and remaking daily. Most do not fold with bedding let alone a memory topper. Your comfort options are: To use your existing mattress and make a murphy bed and add a sofa. Get a click clack bed (not a futon) you will have to make up each night. Make a loft if your ceiling is high enough. Lofts can be any height tall enough to slip the dresser or a desk under or a sofa. You can make a loft from bookcases and plywood.

You should get something comfortable, but small. Futons are not that comfy, so I think a sofa bed is much better. Once, at a hotel, I ordered an extra futon, and it was like sleeping on a hard wooden floor that has gaps in it!! The best decision is a sofa bed!
