Handycam Camcorders do not draw power from USB. You need to purchase a replacement power supply cable. If you take the camcorder to a place like Best Buy or Radio Shack, you can likely get a new cable for very little money (although it won't be the official Sony cable).

i don't think so. at a previous job a while back we were missing the power pack for a camera we had and tried charging it while uploading pictures from the camera to the computer. it wouldn't charge. i think this is quite stupid bcuz i know power can be transferred from the computer to outside sources. maybe sony does. i can't remember the brand of camera we had at that time.
