My husband and I are both laid off.so we are trying to find great home made Christmas gift ideasI found a recipe online for a homemade stepping stoneIt called for water, salt, and flourThen you decorate itthen put it in the oven at 200 degrees for 3 hoursWe have a 20 month old daughter, so this would be perfect for grandparentsMy only question about this is.if we would decorate it with buttons, and pictures, and glass stones.won't those like melt and mess up in the oven? I have never done this beforeSo if anyone knows about this.pleaseeeeee help!!!!!
It can be sliced super-thin (semi-freeze it) or groundThin sliced, you can make a good jerkyGround you can use it for burgers, sauce bolognese, or even breakfast sausageSince venison is super-lean, you might want to add a little fat to the recipe when you cook itThe best I ever had was in jambalaya at an office Christmas party in Baton Rouge, LAThe meats in the dish were squirrel, chicken and venisonThe venison was cooked low and slow before adding it to the batch, and was fall-apart tender.
I have made venison and noodles (beef and noodles-type) with it beforeI cut the meat into bite-sized pieces, place in a large pan and cover with water, add chopped onions, season salt, pepper, garlic powder, worcestershire, and 4 or 5 beef bouillon cubesBring to a boil, then lower to just above a simmer and coverAllow to cook for an hour or so, stirring occasionallyThen I add noodles and cook until tenderThicken the broth to your preferenceI also add cooked potatoes and sometimes cooked carrotsMy family loves it this way.
Korean BBQ like bulgokiMarinate in soy sauce diluted with water (not too much, just enough to coat the meat) some garlic, ginger, sesame seed oil, about a Tbls of brown sugar, salt and pepper and either dry sherry or rice wine vinegarIt should just coat the meat not be a soupy quantityIn about 30 minutes grill or broil to medium or medium rare and eat with rice and whatever veggie you have aroundIf the meat is really tough, put it all in a ziplock bag overnight and it will be tender tomorrow.
My grandkids and I make stepping stones each year when they come to visitWe have given many as giftsDon't use your 'recipe.' 1Buy some aluminum 8 x 8 square and round cake pans2Buy some PAM (or the $1 store brand)3Go outside and collect leaves, stones, pine cones, twigs4scour your house for buttons, shells, elbow macaroni, marbles, corrugated cardboard, sponges, etc(You can also buy those pretty colored stones from the dollar store that folks put into clear vases for colorMy grandkids also used 'glow-in-the-dark' critters they found at the dollar store.) 5Go to your local hardware store and buy a bag of quickset cement Lay out a plastic shower curtain on the floorMix up half a bag of cement (will fill 6 - 8 cake pans) with water, in a dishpanMix very well(I make a well in the center of the powedered cement and pour the water into it and then start mixing.) I'm thinking you'll use plus or minus 3 cups of waterYou don't want it thin!! Spray cake pans with PamPour in cement to the topAdd your adornments (handprints are really awesome for gift-giving!!)Make sure you press stones and marbles down until only half of it is exposedLet set for 48 hoursTurn cake pan over and the stepping stones should just drop out!! I love making them!
