Question:

How can copper oxide and sulfuric acid create salt?

copper oxide + sulfuric acid > copper sulfateBut copper oxide doesn't contain OH ions??? Then how can it neutralize H ions??

Answer:

Copper oxide + sulphuric acid --> copper sulphate + water (base) (acid) CuO + H2SO4 --> CuSO4 + H2O (CuSO4 being the salt)
Dont forget in this case, sulfuric acid is dibasic and has 2 H+ ions, so can use one to contribute to the water molecule formed. In the case of a monobasic acid like HCl, 2mols of HCl would have to be used to neutralise every mole of CuO
