I often need to transfer files between my desktop running windows 2K and a laptop running vista, but i have to transfer the files from one computer to a flash drive and onto the other computer. I have looked at a ton of tutorials of how to set up wireless networking on 2K but none have helped.

Joe R has summed it up. The only thing I would add is a specific recommendation for the Panasonic KX-TG1032S. It's a dual handset which can be expanded up to 6 handsets. Panasonic has phones with more features etc, but this is the biggest seller that most people seem to find it more than adequate.
