I would recommend you to install them NOT on VIRTUAL MACHINE as vista would use ram and the other OS will also use some RAM which will slow down ur PC.If u want 2 run the OS then install them on another partition.If u want to intall on virtual pc then i recommend u to have higher than 2ghz processor, 2 or 3 gb ram ,and 256 mb video card(graphics card)And answer to ur question install windows 7 its very good.Email me if uwant to know how to install ubuntu without partitioning.
