A disc lock is about as much of a theft deterrent as a fork lock. Thieves can't roll, or ride your bike away. But they can just pick up your bike and throw it into the back of their truck. It's better to use a big chain, and lock your bike to a stationary object. If you do decide to use a disc lock - put a reminder sticker on your bike in plain view, or better yet, on your key to remind you the lock is there. I've heard lots of horror stories from riders that forgot the lock was there and try to ride off without removing it. Wrecked their plastics, fuel tanks, mirrors, etc.
In my country, we use a standard lightning arrest rods of 12 inches as specified by the Local Authority. The copper earthing rod penetration is minimum 36 into the ground.
Motor mounts usually break from abuse or accidents. I have seen many break from the automatic transmission being put into park while still rolling. Most of the manual transmission vehicles were broken from harsh shifting, but with what little info you have provided, it is hard to tell anything more.
