Question:

How can I install a car alarm if I only have one key?

I bought a 2005 jeep grand cherokee a couple of months ago. the dealer didn‘t have an extra key. i didn‘t think there was going to be a problem until i decided to add a car alarm. the vehicle interface that im using need requires 2 keys to program and 0 to operate. someone told me there was a way to program it with only one key. is it possible? if so, how?

Answer:

crazy is it possible your trans for the 4 wheel drive is in the nuetral position? it happens sometimes and it wont even roll an inch if it is.
First thing is to clarify if you are installing a car alarm, a remote starter, or a car alarm with remote start. If you are just installing a car alarm you don't need an extra key. For a remote start there are modules you can use that dont require 2 keys for the immobilizer bypass. they also use can bus and can do door locks. Your vehicle is listed on this site for bypasses if you wanna check it out
the first thing you need to do is make sure it,s full of fluid. if it is then drop the pan and change the filter.
