Answer:

The rent is too damn high The taxes are too damn high the wages are too damn low But I Love the City, and, hopefully, won't move
Your city has insanely high tax ratesThat's a big problem.
yeah, each are within the best five such a lot costly towns within the USA for what you would pay for a studio in Manhattan, you would get a two-three bed room luxurious loft in downtown Minneapolis wherein I are living
They live (way) beyond their means and do not know how to budgetLater, they waste it on fines, cable TV, smoking, alcohol and Satellite radioIts bad enough to pay to watch HBO but why pay to listen to Howard Stern? No matter how small an income is, if rent 1/40th of the annual salary, you can make it.
You could use natural light from outside, or through a window, and use white sheets, aluminum foil, or even cardboard to reflect it in the direction you want it to goYou could also put different colored sheets up (like curtains that are pulled shut) across the window to provide different tints/lighting colorsFor softer lights, use a sheer curtain to block most sunlight out, and use white sheets/cardboard for a reflectorJust try different things outIf you have a lamp, you could use that, placed in different areas of the room, to provide different lighting effectsIf you have a three light lamp stand (one that you can change the angle's on the individual lights), you can use thatAlso if you have a 3-way light where you can adjust the intensity of the light being output it will add something to a scene/portrait, etcDo a search on creative lighting solutions.
