My cat loves to sleep on the sofa that I just bought. so I am trying to find a way to protect my furniture from my cat's hair.
Buy a sofa cover, or start buying lots of lint brushes! Because even if your cat stops sleeping on the sofa, you will still get hairs on it ... we have cat hairs ALL OVER our apartment and clothes, no matter how much we vacuum and use lint brushes! Just one of the joys of owning a cat :)
Train it to have a special place for it to sleep and that place you always have covered...Or cover the whole sofa and then just uncover it for special occasions.
You can use a bounty dryer sheet on the couch, just rub it over the couch, this will help repel some of the hair. You could also buy a cat bed for the cat, I have one cat that loves them. Or teach the cat not to get up on the couch.
Cover the new sofa with a pretty quilt or sheet, or sofa cover only they are expensive to buy. We use a quilt, and once dirty just wash and reuse. It works very well, my furniture all though a few years old looks brand new. Best Wishes!
Shop around for a sofa cover! You can get them sized to fit your sofa and match the color. I have two cats. When my loveseat gets too hairy, I take off the cover and run it through the washer. Voila!
