one of my cats peed on my sofa now they keep doing it in the same spot, can anyone recommend a spray that will eliminate the smell or/and a spray that may stop them going to the spot again, i heard some citrus sprays do not work

You can find it at any pet store, probably walmart, too (I even found it in a hardware store, lol) It really does work WONDERS, trust me (I have 10 happy/healthy cats). lol I had to use it when one of my kitties kept urinating on my pillow :P eeeew (I had to get rid of my favorite pillow cuz of those little rascals, lol) Good Luck!!! :)
I have two cats and one of them sometimes pees on the sofa. I love my cats and would never give them up. I found the solution to be to protect my sofa with a SureFit Quick Cover Furniture Saver for Sofa from Sears on-line shopping. It has slip-resistant backing, waterproof polyurethane barrier, microsuede front, polyester fill, is machine washable, and comes in 5 different colors, and looks great. I like Natures Miracle or Outright Stain and Odor Remover. General cleaners and sprays will, at best, mask the smell. The cats will still be able to smell the urine and will continue to mark the area. Another option (although it may bleach the fabric) is to use 1 cup hydrogen peroxide, 1 tsp baking soda and 1 drop of dish soap. It works very well and is very cheap. Do you know why your cat peed on the sofa? A vet visit is in order to rule out medical conditions. Many things, including bladder infections, stones, diabetes and kidney disease can all lead to inappropriate elimination. A quick check up and urinalysis can rule out disease. Next, it's time to evaluate the environment. The recommendation is to have one more litter box than the number of cats. Keep the litter box very clean. Try experimenting with different litters and boxes. One of my cats will only pee on an unscented, fine grained clumping litter in a box that has been scooped recently. Finally, it may be a stress or anxiety based problem, particularly if this happens more than once. This can be dealt with in many ways. I've used Feliway, a phermone based calming spray, successfully in the past. This is available in a spray or a diffuser. Also, you can discuss with your vet potentially using medications. I've used Clomicalm on my cat with great success. It lowered his anxiety level and made him stop peeing on my couch and bed. He was also calmer, less reactive to noise, and overall happier.
