Question:

How do I connect PVC pipe to threaded copper pipe?

I‘m trying to connect a PVC pipe to a threaded copper elbow, but the PVC pipe is barely fitting over the elbow. Help!

Answer:

Suave, If you're simply trying to make a connection between pvc pipe and a threaded copper fitting, the part you need is called a: PVC, MIPxS fitting. (That is a: male iron pipe x slip) fitting in whatever size you need. Good luck. Just go to a hardware store tell the guy that. He'll know what you want. You'll also need some pvc glue to connect the slip end to the pvc pipe.
You should be able to find a pvc coupler that has a thread at one end that will match up with the copper elbow. You can then teflon wrap the elbow thread and screw it into the coupler. From there, use the pvc cement and glue the coupler to the pvc pipe.
