I have a 97 Jetta and to arm the alarm you just lock the driver's door. I locked the door while it was open and I heard the armed beep but the door didn't lock. I went and opened the door and the alarm went off. To disarm it normally you just unlock the door or turn the key in that position. I did that I also tried locking and unlocking the door and that didn't work The alarm shuts itself off after about five minutes but goes off again if I try to start it or get back in the car. The alarm is connected to the starter circuit which makes it so I can't start the car at all. I have tried pulling plugs and such but that didn't work. I don't think disconnecting the battery will help because then I still won't be able to start the car. MY NEIGHBORS HATE ME!!!
It's very simple to do, first remove the first three fuses in the fuse box and the last two. Then put your key in the ignition, cycle between on and off 7 times, honk the horn 2 times while holding the break pedal, repeat this procedure twice. At this time the alarm should be in standby mode, to proceed to disabled mode simply flash the high beams 9 times while holding the horn down. There you have it, the car should now be able to start, however i would recommend driving to the closest garage to get your alarm repaired.
reset it by disconnecting the battery
