Question:

How do I get too much copper out of the swimming pool?

copper is over 3.4ppm

Answer:

use a serquestering agent...metal free my natural chemestry. if you have a heater then thats probably where the copper came from. if your ph remains low for a while you heat exchanger in ur heater will start breaking down
OUCH, that's pretty high. Have you been using algaecides that contain copper? Do you have copper plumbing? Do you have a heater? Unfortunately the only way to remove copper is to drain off the water and fill it with water that doesn't contain it. You can sequester or lock the metal into a compound that remains suspended in the water, but this is only a short term fix. Having sequestered copper in your pool may never ever cause a problem, but there are so many things that might happen to cause the water to drop the metal back out and stain the pool, discolor the water, and turn everyone's hair a beautiful shade of green. You can lock it up for now, but bear in mind that you will want to get the pool drained and refilled (not completely drained, just about half way, then refill, then drain half way and refill again) to reduce the level to something that won't drop from the water.
