Question:

How do I go about finding Earths natural resources such as iron, steel?

If I wanted to get myself some natural iron or any natural resourse, what would or where would I have to do/go?

Answer:

Mineral exploration is a complex discipline involving a combination of data research, geology, geochemistry, and geophysics. There are many known iron resources that are not being mined all around the world. Depending on where you live, you'd need to research the archives or records of your local government geological survey. If you are doing grass roots exploration (looking at areas without known resources), your best bet would be to fly airborne magnetic surveys over prospective geology. Two of the most common iron ore minerals are magnetite and hematite, and both can be identified by sufficiently detailed aeromagnetic surveys.
