i need to put a chain lock or something similar on do i need special hardware i have a decent drill
I have steel doors, they are steel shell so you can easily drill into them
All you need is the right kind of screws. Tek screws, also called self-drilling screws, will go through the metal skin that doors have, and they do not need a pilot hole. Just drill fast, push a little bit, and be prepared to take your finger off the drill trigger as soon as the screw has gone home, which happens very fast after the threads begin to bite.
