Question:

How do I install freon on 2006 Ford Freestyle?

I tried to install freon a long time ago but it would not take it and it is completely emptyI was told it needs an adapter but nobody will help meI have to do this myself cause i'm broke and have 3 kids that are in the car most of the day with me.

Answer:

Just to clarify your Freestyle does not have freonIt uses a refrigerant called R134AThis is what all newer cars useThe port to add this is under the hood on the passenger sideIts almost against the firewallIts an aluminum tube tucked away back in the corner and has a plastic cap on itAC systems have two ports, a low side and a high sideThe high side on the Freestyle is on the left also but is closer to the front of the car and easy to get toDO NOT use the high side to add refrigerantThe fitting that comes with your can of R134A will not fit this fitting anyway, so don't force anythingI would buy the can of refrigerant with the gauge built into the hoseRemove the plastic cap on the low side and attach the hose from the refrigerant canStart the vehicle and turn the AC on highVerify using the gauge that your system is low and needs an addIf it is low press the button on the top of the can to add refrigerant until you are in the normal range on the guage for pressureRelease the button and remove the hoseReplace the cap on the port and you are done.
