Question:

How Do I Protect My Lawn From a Fire Pit?

Fire can somewhat be dangerous to the things around it, like it could kill plants and grass that are near. So how do you prevent those from happening while still enjoying the use of firepits?

Answer:

The Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA) protects your job for up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave in a 12-month period if you have a serious medical condition. The employer is within its rights to require medical documentation to certify your condition. If you do not meet that requirement, they can most definitely fire you. Not to mention, I'm sure they could get creative and find any number of other unrelated reasons to fire you if you don't cooperate. I know it's a pain but just get the papers signed.
Yes. Infra-red sensers, known as 'occupancy sensers' are on the market, and used to control lights and fans for energy conservation in toilets etc.
don't know name but there are some you can get yourh ouse wired with jsut callthe security people.
Its called a pyroelectric sensor. All the ones I have seen require a change in temperature (i.e.motion). I saw one clever person put a small fan blade in front of it to act as a chopper so when ever there was a person present, the sensor would see alternating warm and cool. This created a sort of artificial motion so the person could be still. Most of these type sensors use a fresnel lens that modulates the signal as you traverse by it. Regards, Dave Edit: The best way to get one, by the way, is to buy an automatic porch light sensor the kind that turns on when a person approaches. Look for one that has the plastic segmented lens that acts like the Fresnel lens discussed above. Edit 2: Pyroelectric sensors are also know as long wave infrared sensors. They are sensitive to light with a wavelength of more that a couple of micrometers (heat). A standard IR detector diode or transistor that you get at radioshack etc.will not work. Make sure it is specified as a long wave sensor.
