How do I remove melted polyester/polyamide from the bottom of a saucepan/pot?

I put a hot pot on a blue 80%polyester 20%polyamide dish cloth. The cloth melted onto the bottom of the saucepan. How do I get the cloth off the bottom of the pan? My mom is gonna be very very very mad! Do I soak the pan in hot soapy water or cold soapy water? Do I use oven cleaner? Use ajax? HELP !
