I have removed my crank on my bike and am trying to prepare it for painting. How do i remove my bottom bracket?
when i painted my bike i just put paper and tape over it, saved me time, and the risk of when i put it back on i could strip the BB.
Dont know if this will help you but it shows how many different types of tools for different bb's you can get and theres more. But if your not sure of what to get you should def take it to your local bike shop and ask them.
There are several different types of bottom brackets, including external bearing, ISIS, Octolink, square taper cartridge, and cup cone. Each style has unique methods or tools for removal. Since this is for a repaint, you're cheapest option is probably to let the local shop remove it for you.
