I am about to move into a new office and it is all carpet...We are a creative agency and really want that cool loft feel- Anyone know the best way to remove all the carpet ( and the glue ) from the cement and then the best way to stain it to look cool? :) We don't have a huge budget and really hope to be able to do this on our own. Thanks for any help!
Tear up carpets first than try using steam to remove glue residue. As far as colors painting is going to be the least expensive
After stain, neutralizing and dry time I will apply a concrete sealer. Higher gloss products look better, but they become slippery when wet. I would either find an experienced applicator, or practice using sample containers. If you have the floor re-coated have the concrete workers fill and trowel something like shoebox lids so you have some actual floor to practice on without screwing up the real floor. Without knowing the condition and age (old concrete does not stain as quickly as new concrete and new concrete can flake its surface if not neutralized soon enough) of the slab under the carpet I have no way of predicting application rates and richness of colors. Good luck with your project, it has the potential to be quite spectacular with a bit of planning and know-how!
