I know many AC motors don't have brushes but there are some that have brushes. How do you call that type of motor? Thanks!
the brush less ones are induction motors [have a capacitor on them ] the ones with brushes are armature driven
There is such thing as a brushless motor!. Although i think they are only DC motors that are brushless and used in things like your desktop pc as cooling fans
This is called an electric motor. All electric motors have brushes (I think).
If you are talking about a single phase motor, its likely a universal motor. These are often found in domestic appliances such as vacuum cleaners or washers. If you are talking about 3 phase motors, then one type is a wound rotor induction motors. There are usually 3 sets of brushes and rings that allow resistances to be connected into the rotor circuit. Large synchronous motors will also have brushes (except brushless, of course). These supply the rotor with the DC excitation.
