Question:

how do you sweat pipes?

was wondering how you did it, they are going to do it to my pipes that are connected to my washer but was wondering how it was done

Answer:

you clean the ends of the pipes that you are going to sweat together oh heck look at these two sights both give you videos and will give you a little info
This is not a difficult thing to do. First of all, if you want to connect two copper pipes together, you clean the ends of the copper pipes with wire wool. You then brush on some flux. From your local hardware store you buy the correct size coupler that fits over the pipes where you want to make the joint. The coupler is a short pipe slightly larger than the two pipes you wish to connect. You clean the inside of coupler with wire wool and then add flux to the inside of the coupler. Next, you heat, gently, the two pipes and add a solder to the pipe until the solder melts. Using a soft rag you wipe the molten solder over the cleaned ends of each pipe, making sure that the whole of the end of the pipe is fully covered with solder all the way round the pipe. Next you fit the coupler to one pipe and offer up the other pipe to the other end of the coupler. Then, using your blow torch you add heat, gently, to the coupler, at the same time adding a little solder around the ends of the coupler until the solder fills the coupler and fusees the two ends of the pipe together. Usually a propane torch is used to heat the pipes until they are hot enough to melt solder to make a waterproof connection. Difficult to do yourself.
