I mean if they nailed him after they put the cross up, it would require a few guys to hold him up. And his body would be limp because he walked all the way up that hill.On the other hand, if they nailed him to the cross, then erected it, it would take a lot of man power. I couldn't imagine the Romans having the tools to hoist the cross with the full weight of Jesus.Or do you think that God made the Romans especially strong, because he could see into the future and knew they would need the strength to nail his son to a piece of wood. And on a side note.. do you think Jesus crafted his own cross? I just think that would've made a nice touch.
Crucifixion was a common way of executing people, the way the electric chair or leathal injection is today. Jesus was not the only one to be nailed to the cross. There are many other historical accounts not included in the Bible. The Romans were experts at it.
lol.....not a very well thought out question i must say. i couldnt imagine the Romans having the tools to hoist the cross with the full weight of Jesus. WHAT? r u serious, or r u joking? maybe u r not familiar with the advanced technology the romans had, the huge statues, the beautiful buildings. You have heard of the Pyramids in Egypt as well, right. wouldnt imagine anyone could do that either. have u seen this little thing called the Colosseum? lol.
You seriously don't think they would have the engineering skills to hoist a cross with the weight of one person into the air? Ever see the aqueducts? The Colosseum?
They would nail the hands and wrist down while they were on the ground. After they pulled them up on the cross ( I imagine with a Pully system or something) they would nail the feet to the bottom. I dont think Jesus crafted his own cross but he did have to carry it.
People were crucified by being nailed to a cross though the wrists and ankles, and then the cross was raised up. If you were rich then you could pay a guard to kill you with their spear after a few hours. If you were poor or had really hacked off the authorities then you hanged there until you suffocated, died and rotted. I would guess that it would be no problem for a team of 5 who knew what they were doing, and the Romans get a lot of practice at crucifixion. I guess you have very limited imagination. As for Jesus - show me the historical records that he existed, then we can talk about specific cases. If you still can't imagine it: Dig a post hole. Put the foot of the cross over the post hole. Hold the victim down and nail them to the cross. Four guys raise the top of the cross. We are talking about people trained to march 20 miles with a 40lbs pack and then engage an enemy in sword and shield combat. Two guys hold it up while the other two loop ropes over the arms of the cross and pull it upright as the other two push it up. The upright falls into the hole, two guys hold the cross vertical while the other two fill in the hole to secure the cross. One guy to organize this.
