2001 ranger, disconnected battery when connecting again car alarm stays on and car won‘t start why?
The car came from the factory with the PATS anti-thieft system that requires a chip in the ignition key to start the truck. If you don't have a correct key anymore, then tow it to a Ford dealer. He'll have to turn the alarm off program a new key for the ignition system.
The pats system in your car or key is screwed up, but don't tow it to a Ford dealer, that will cost you a lot plus a tow truck fee. I would call around to local lock smiths and get quotes because they very greatly and will cost a quarter of what the dealer will charge to reset the chip in your key.
