I need it for science report. PLEASE HELP
Ok, first, Iron ore is found sometimes by just looking at the rocks in the area. The reason that most soils are red is because of hematite (Fe2O3) in them which becomes red when it is contact with air and water for long periods of time. Finding native Iron (iron without impurities such as sulfur or oxygen) is rare because it is so reactive but can be found in some igneous rocks and in meteorites. The main ores of Iron are hematite and magnetite (Fe3O4) and magnetite is preferred due to its larger concentration of iron to oxygen, making it a richer ore. One of the most famous sources of Iron ore is from a sedimentary rock called BIF (Banded Iron Formation) which can be found in Australia and around Lake Superior. These formations were created during the Precambrian, mostly in the Archean. These rocks are alternating layers of Hematite and magnetite with chert (flint). If you would like to know more about BIF you can ask another question or email me if you can find the address. Iron ore, once it is gotten to a refining facility is crushed then purified to get rid of the gange (useless) minerals such as the chert, quartz and pyrite (FeS2). Then the ore is smelted and the pure iron is poured into molds that when cool are in sizes that can be used to send to other factories in industrial uses. Today a large portion of the iron is used to make steel. Once again if you have any questions about the above information feel free to ask a more specific question.
Welll it is found by using a pick on a rock found in many mines across the world some south of varrock, and north of Al-Karid, used on a furnace to make iron bars for armor :) all i know from runescape lol
Iron is found everywhere just some places have more than others. Its used in old jail bars it rust so we don't use it in are new jails. Iron isn't used much anymore because it corrodes (rusts) and its very heavy like pure gold but not as soft. Its strong to against blows but not pressure like the deep sea. Ow Its used in iron hulls of Battleships, Carriers, and other war boats.
