Question:

How long do vacuum cleaners last?

I have a Eureka Whirlwind (canister vacuum cleaner). I have probably had it for 4 years or so. Sometimes it quot;spitsout garbage from the canister. Should a vacuum cleaner last only 4 years? Or maybe the belt needs to be changed? Any ideas?

For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/avP3i well that would depend on you and how much long you using it, what you are using it for. and so on
I have an old Hoover from Wal-Mart that I bought fifteen years ago for the job. It's cleaned perhaps a thousand homes, I've replaced the belt a dozen times, the roller maybe a dozen times, it runs like a champ. I purchased a Orek XL and, it's a pile of crap. I paid four times the amount of the hoover and it can run circles around the Orek, I've tried many times to return the Orek so, if that old fart on TV that advertises Orek is reading this Help? I want my money back and thank you to Hoover.
Industrial vacuums last about a year. Households brands last about 3 years. You can pay for a tune up or just buy a new one (which might be cheaper.) The belt has nothing to do with the suction.
If it is tossing trash out from the canister, there is a filter inside which is broken and needs to be replaced. There is no reason why a vacuum cleaner cannot last for decades.
Sounds like it jsut needs to have some filters changed or perhaps a tune up. Vacuums will not last decades as another person stated, but they should last around 5-10 years if properly maintained. If you have pets it will not last as long since the additional hair will burn out the motor quicker.
